Cereal Killers

Nutrionists have known for a long time that they're not grrreat. I'm talking about breakfast cereals of course.

This week saw the publication of a study which named & shamed somed of Britain's most popular breakfast cereals.

The consumer group Which? survey has been done before and guess what? Since the previous time, not much as moved on at all.

Most of the cereals they surveyed were popular with kids and its not suprising given the amount of sugar, salt and various other additives they contain.

Some children's cereals contained almost 30 per cent sugar which had some radio reporters wondering whether serving up a bowl of Decay Ya Teeth O Pops was any better than giving children a Mars bar for brekkie.

Even "healthier" cereals such as Rice Crispies were still laden with salt which is strange for a breakfast cereal.

The worst thing is that it's hard to get children up in the morning and often these products are the only thing they will eat first thing. As I mentioned in my last blog, they are often endorsed by celebrities and seen as sporty & attractive.

Of course there is nothing wrong with the odd bowl and in the past, these cereals would have been seen as a real treat but given the current children's diet of snacks, fast food, crisps, fizzy drinks and sweets and treats-these products could turn into cereal killers.
